The sustainable bioeconomy is climate neutral, supports circular use, keeps levels of consumption within ecological limits and promotes innovation for bio-based product use in prosperous German markets. The monitoring of these aspects is the basis for effective policy measures aimed at steering bioeconomy development. To this end, over 40 researchers from more than 10 institutions and across 2 projects have worked to develop a systemic and comprehensive monitoring of the German bioeconomy. This report showcases key findings. It presents an overview of updated and new data, trends and scenarios covering environmental, social and economic dimensions of sustainable bioeconomy development.
